Gospel Sundays at The Wise Hallmt12-2012-01-sized

Sundays, at 5pm

1882 Adanac St. (& Victoria Dr.), Vancouver.  Here's a map.

Doors open at 5pm, with dinner and live DJ.  Worship starts at 5:30pm.

Our main gathering called Gospel Sundays look like a worship service or mass, but also has elements of a concert or party, to bring people together through Jesus.

Our worship services are held at The Wise Hall, in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood, which is one of the most artistic neighbourhoods in Vancouver.  "The Wise" is a hundred year old community hall where concerts, arts events, parties and a wide variety of community events take place.  Getting close to the building, you'll hear DJ Matthew 1626, DJ Ray or another one of our DJs spinning some house, trance, hip hop, or whatever genre of music they are spiritually inspired by.  Upon entering, the ambiance is both dim and warm, part of the inviting nature of the venue, which will be mixed our music and our people.  A friendly host will greet you at the door, and answer any questions you may have. Looking around, you'll notice imperfect but beautiful people from diverse cultures and sub-cultures, that many do not look like people you would normally expect to find in a church.  As the DJ spins, a delicious dinner ($5) often cooked by people in our community who want to bless others with their time, and delectable creations.  The room has coffee shop style tables where you can eat,  meet new people, or catching up with people you already know.  Some of the best coffee on the continent is also available, thanks to our very own Brian and Linda Turko from Milano Coffee, and to our baristas Alex and Karolyn.

From there we transition into a time of musical worship, when one of our More Than 12 House Bands, made up of singers, musicians, rappers, and DJs of our community will lead musical worship in our style: a Vancouver fusion of creative and passionate rock-pop, electronica, hip hop, r&b and world music.  Thanks to Paul and Steve from our partner Revolution Sound, we have the gift of amazing sound.  The lyrics of songs are projected on an extra wide screen in front of creative and inspiring visuals by VJ Raven (a.k.a. Robin) or VJ Lulu from our partner Soul Visuals.

As you would find in most churches, there is a time  to optionally participate in communion and tithing.  Pastor Jeff or another speaker gives a short, relevant, inspiring Bible-based talk, followed by a time when those who want to may respond to the portion of the Bible presented in the talk, or to respond to the Gospel.  There is then an opportunity  to receive optional prayer, while one final song is played by the band.  Often one quarter to one third of the people go up for prayer to share burdens or aspirations that they want God's help with.  The evening ends with the DJ spinning again, for some casual time to hang out, get to know people, care for each other, while we help pack things up.
